I really don't have anything to base this on except a gut feeling, but I really believe 2011 is the year things turn around for a lot of people.
Our 2010 wasn't they year many of my competitors had, I watched as two of my friends closed their photography studios and others struggle with the worst years they've ever had, but it certainly could have been better. Just like many small businesses in this country, it's certainly been a challenge, but it's not my first and certainly won't be my last.
But as the year ended there was a flurry of good economic news and a nice upswing in holiday purchases. As a country we still have a way to go to set things right, but there seems to be a feeling of optimism that hasn't been there in the last two years.
So, I'm heading into 2011 convinced more than ever that the worst of it is over and things are heading up. In fact, if you look at 1/1/11, they're all arrows pointing upward. Pretty cool.
Now, after a week off to tend to some overdue projects around the house (and spend some quality time with my wife, Mary, who took her last 2010 vacation days at KFKF), I'm really looking forward to getting back to the studio and getting ready for next Saturday's KC Weddings Bridal Fair. It looks like we may be competing with the Chiefs playoff game, but that's the way the ball bounces.
I hope you'll be joining us there, there's nothing I like better than face time. Call me old fashioned, but you just can't replace being face to face with someone with an email or text. I'm going to have an incredible show special that's worth $500 for anyone who signs with us at the show. I'm just not ready to let the cat our of the bag, you'll have to wait until Saturday.
Even after all this time, there's still nothing I like better than making people smile when they see their portraits and wedding photographs and I'm excited to show you what we can do.
For the new year, I wish you health, happiness, laughter and love and I look forward to seeing you soon.
Gregg
